Bob has always enjoyed photography and sketching. He took an art course at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta as a teenager and “dabbled” in oil painting with his maternal grandmother as “tutor”.
Since retiring from IBM he and his wife Carol have had a bit more time to travel and experience new “landscapes” which he has tried to capture in his photography. While photography has always been his main artistic outlet, drawing has taken on a more important role recently.
For the last two years he has taken classes offered by the Wayland Recreation Department and studied under Margret Krakauer, an accomplished artist who has been painting professionally for over thirty years. She believes art should be fun and at the same time challenging so encourages her students to experiment and try new techniques. He has enjoyed her approach and encouragement and intends to continue taking classes with her. Bob has chosen to concentrate on drawings using graphite and colored pencils. His drawings along with his classmates were shown at the Wayland Town Hall last summer and new works will be on display again this year.
