Making art brings me joy, nourishes my soul, and suspends time. That’s what it feels like, anyway, when I am in my studio earnestly and madly creating. Hours often pass by before I realize that it’s almost five o’clock and my husband and Fiona, our Shih Tzu, will soon be expecting their dinners. Oops.
My visual language — color, form, line — may be expressed in painting, printmaking, bookmaking, collage, or photography.
Flowers are a favorite subject — huge bouquets of flowers. The challenge is to produce something that captures their perfection.
Abstract painting is a recurrent passion because it is so physically and psychologically satisfying — maybe because I’m left-brain logical so much of the time. It’s refreshing to give in to the intuitive subconscious, to return to the pure mark making behavior I loved as a child.
