ABOUT THE ARTIST
My collection of works is entitled “Portraits of the Universe”. I began painting at the age of 3 and continued through age 15, at which time I switched to the music business. Then, suddenly, in January 2016, after an extended career as a professional singer, the long dormant gift was re-awakened. I attribute this ability to my heritage: My Great Grandfather, Aaron Draper Shattuck, N.A. and my Great Uncle, Samuel Colman, N.A., were both illustrious members of the White Mountain and Hudson River Schools of painting in the mid-late 1800s. Since I am primarily self-taught I give total credit to my ancestors for bringing me “full circle”.
My work from 2016 to the present includes portraits of people, animals, my impressions of the stars and nebulae as seen through the Hubble Space Telescope.
I also have created renditions of ancient carved masks found in the Mayan/Aztec temples in Teotihuacan and Palenque in Mexico.
All are “Portraits” of the Universe! With these paintings, it is my wish to bring some enjoyment, awareness and appreciation for the beauty and mystery that surrounds us all. I am most grateful for the gift I have received and the opportunity to share it with others.
